The Deep Soundtrack 1977 John Barry

Another lush and classic soundtrack from the 'Guvnor' John Barry who has been rightly dubbed the man with the midas touch. Based on the Peter Benchley novel and directed by Peter Yates a pair of young vacationers become embroiled in a deadly conflict with a gang of ruthless treasure hunters when they discover a way into a shipwreck off the coast of Bermuda. An impressive cast list includes the stunning jacqueline bisset, a youthful nick nolte, robert shaw in one of his last big screen appearances before his untimely death and Eli Wallach.

So many Barry touches here. You can hear memories of Raise the Titanic, Out of Africa, Octopussy and A View To A Kill but it's still a unique piece of music.

@StreathamG agrre by the mid 70s JB had really developed that distinctive lush sound....moonraker also has similarities to this wonderful score..and the unsurpassaable somewhere in time....JB's music is just very special

Thank you for your reply davidleigh65 that was a great suprise! yes love Robert Shaw who is my favourite film star of all! I have seen this film many many times and the music is fabulous! Never get tired of watching this and also would like to say that films of today are just not the same..thankyou!

man this is so awsome. I rem as a little kid while others where getting big wheels,stretch armstrongs. for xmas i was collecting soundtracks.I had almost all the james bond soundtracks and this one along with john williams. such memories. thanks for posting david!

I had the blue vinyl album and wore it out.. This is a beautiful score as all of his music. Every one of his scores stand on their own as masterpieces. Thank you for giving us your beautiful music to enjoy the rest of our lives.
