- Old classic - new beat. music

Ludwig van Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 14 Quasi una fantasia, Op. 27, No. 2, (Moonlight Sonata / mondscheinsonate 1. satz ) first movement
A modernized remix of the first movement of Beethoven's classic sonata played on a synthesizer against a slow drum loop. Short to mid length version. Mixed using FL Studio.

I'm not sure how to classify my mix. It's not really rock. The beat is too slow to call it techno. It's not quite chill out and I'm not sure you could call it or ambient but it is kind of relaxing and soothing. Not sure what you would call it but I hope you like it.

Moonlight sonata is my favorite classical music piece and I have a vivid childhood memory of it and that was hearing it in the opening credits following a sad intro to a western movie.
Beethoven's compositions all have a unique quality of their own yet I think that this sonata stands out for it's rhythm, it's mood and the way it builds to a high point.
It really does remind someone of the feeling you get when you see moonlight reflecting off a still lake.

  • @muffin8or Hi, Sorry you don't like it, I like experimentation and various styles including classical. What I don't insist on is that you listen to it. I would have hoped that the words 'remix' and 'Synth' appearing in the title would have given you a clear indication of what to expect.

  • This is cool as hell! Seriously! Talk about making a song your own! Excellent! What's doing the drums? What other gear are you using? Jim

  • @kerzwhile Thanks. I'm using FL Studio which has sampled drum tracks (as well as a programmable drum machine but I just used the sampled tracks for this mix).

  • indeed not bad. Just some feedback. Tee effects are really overdone but that's a matter of taste. A bit too much phaser and chorus. 4 stars

  • @LekkerFilmen Thanks, fair comment.

  • This was really interesting..Screw you haters :)

  • hmm...not bad :D

  • I truly don't like it. I'm not hating on remixes either. I love classical music and I've heard good remixes. This just isnt one of them. It doesnt even feel like a remix. It feels like you put a keyboard on raindrop and just played the song to a beat.

  • @LekkerFilmen there's no such thing as too much phaser. i googled it ;D

  • I enjoyed this thoroughly!! Sometimes the drums seem like they don't belong, or like they need to be ever so slightly altered or something. Fantastic!!! hope i can put something like this together someday...

  • horrible enough said

  • @rabbit290670

You have no basis for your claim. I expressed my opinion and nothing more. You can't tell me what to like/dislike/not hate.

  • @muffin8or i reckon if beethoven heard this he'd be good with it. Just because music is written in one style doesn't mean it can't be done different. i've heard this played on electric guitars as well now i wanna seeif anyone's done a house or trance wersion. All music is good if done well. You don't have to like it just don't hate it

  • great mix. man
