Kid Rock arrested

Hello, I'm Rebecca Field with a UPI entertainment update on this Monday, October 22, 2007.

Kid Rock is facing misdemeanor battery charges. He was reportedly arrested at an Atlanta restaurant early Sunday. The singer and several members of his entourage allegedly beat up a man at a restaurant...after he apparently began speaking to a woman in Rock's group. The rocker was released from jail last night on 1000 dollars bond.

Britney Spears has regained visitation rights with her sons. The pop star was seen driving around with her two kids and a court appointed monitor on Saturday. Last week, a California judge suspended those rights after she was apparently unreachable for court related scheduling. Both Spears and her ex Kevin Federline will head to court for another hearing later this week.

Big stars went out on the town over the weekend to celebrate the ties between Hollywood and Broadway. Catherine Zeta Jones and her husband Michael Douglas were among the stars to attend the third annual "A Fine Romance Gala." The event honors musicals from the big screen and the Broadway stage. Actor Kirk Douglas and his wife Anne were there as well as Hugh Jackman.

The new vampire thriller "30 Days of Night" ruled U.S. box offices over the weekend. The film, starring Josh Hartnett and Melissa George grabbed the number one spot bringing in 16 million dollars in ticket sales. Tyler Perry's "Why Did I get Married" fell from its spot at the top last weekend to number two. And "The Game Plan" starring Dwayne the Rock Johnson landed in third.

Actors Jake Gyllenhaal and Reese Witherspoon are in Rome promoting their new film. The two attended the screening of "Rendition" at the Rome Film Festival yesterday. The movie's Director Gavin Hood says the movie is meant to raise awareness about torture and help stop human rights violations. "Rendition" opened in the U.S. last Friday.
