What once was the hang out mall of southern Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County, is now no more. They kept the anchor buildings and gutted the mall replacing it with a Home Depot.

  • Franco, You are correct this is actually Fishkill, NY. In 1981 when I lived there it was a Service Merchandise on the right side and I don't remember what anchor store was on the left side. As for the South Hills Mall which still has Kmart in it, is actually in Wappingers falls. I hopoe to have video of that soon.

  • whoa !! perfect paintball scenario field !!! lol

  • who makes a video about this?

  • At least I can rest assured that that McDonald's will always be there for me!

  • I do however still play 9 holes from time to time at the coarse behind the mall. Hey,anyone remember Moog's? The bar across from the mall. Now we're talking old school.

  • Wow,I'm 42 yrs. and also grew up in Wappingers. I remember when the Dutchess mall was the main shopping venue in the area. I remember getting a baseball signed by Micky Mantle at the grand opening years ago. Wow,time really flew by. Now the dutchess and south hills malls are barely making it. It's like a ghost town inside. Only good thing they have is $1.99 movies. But most of them are movies that are not even showing at the poughkeepsie Gallaria any longer.

  • I grew up in Fishkill, I remember when they were building it, I used to ride my 20" bike inside the building. Behind the mall is a great swimming hole we called it Moon River.. Great memories thank's for the post!!.. Joe
