One of the leading film actresses of parallel cinema, Shabana is also a social activist. Her performances in films in a variety of genres have generally earned her praises and awards including five wins of National Film Award for Best Actress.
Some of her noted films include Shyam Benegal's Nishant (1975), Junoon (1978), Susman (1986), and Antarnaad (1992); Satyajit Rays Shatranj Ke Khiladi; Mrinal Sens Khandhar, Genesis, Ek Din Achanak; Saeed Mirzas Albert Pinto Ko Guussa Kyon Aata Hai; Sai Paranjpyes Sparsh and Disha; Gautam Ghose Paar; Aparna Sens Picnic and Sati ; Mahesh Bhatts Arth; Vinay Shuklas Godmother. Azmi has also starred in a number of Hollywood productions including John Schlesingers Madame Sousatzka (1988) and Roland Joffes City of Joy (1992).
This intimate conversation with Shabana will focus on her experiences as an actor, social activist and a politician.
