Papa Chris & Steve (1994)
Papa Chris Major and Steve Farrell
Ages 3 and up
by Moira McCormick
"Every now and then one finds a children's album so delightfully fresh in all its elements that it latches onto the ears and won't let go. Such a recording is Papa Chris and Steve's self-titled album. ... It's never cutesy or cloying, though, thanks to the simple, elegant instrumentation and the inventive, unexpected turns of phrase and melody by Papa Chris Major and Steve Farrell."
Moira McCormick covers the children's music industry for Billboard.

I was surfing the Internet and looking at pictures of bloody, dismembered Iraqi children on cable TV. I got up from my computer to get a CD and stumbled upon an old favorite I hadn't listened to for a while, Papa Chris & Steve. So I put together some of the images I was looking at and my favorite song, All the Animals. -- Adrian Salsgiver
Here are the lyrics for the first part of the song:
All the Animals in God's Garden,
ooh, treat 'em kind.
We shouldn't hurt 'em an' we shouldn't kill 'em.
It's somethin' that ain't right.
All the Animals, All the Animals

Disturbing, depressing, but necessary I suppose.
