How did you make ytong nest?
-
@antblogger Nope :(

Queen's are nessecary in a nest, without it all of the ants will eventually die. Digging up ant nests doesn't work btw, you better buy them or wait till their mating season has started, and pick up a wingless queen when they are done.

Where did you get a queen ant because I thought those were the only ants that could reproduce?

nice nest

You're so luck! My Acromyrmex octospinosus colony has only around 100..

how do you feed them without them escaping

Easy, I'm using a thin layer of fluon to prevent them from climbing out. Alternativly, you can use cooking oil, as they hate the smell.

Oh, so i could feed an ant some steak for the protein right? Or would the protein be given from any other household food with lots of protein? Or are the ants specific to bug meat?

Keep it natural. We don't know, if there are ant specific nutrients in the prey's meat. Go outside with a jar and catch some insects. If you are disgusted by that, then ant keeping isn't the right hobby for you. :P
There must be some pet shops near you which sell meal worms or crickets or flies with crippled wings (they are fed to pet reptiles). Kill them with boiling water and cut them open.
