Final Fantasy V is a medieval-fantasy role-playing video game developed and published by Square (now Square Enix) in 1992 as a part of the Final Fantasy series. The game first appeared only in Japan on Nintendo's Super Famicom (known internationally as the Super Nintendo Entertainment System). It has been ported with minor differences to Sony's PlayStation and Nintendo's Game Boy Advance. An original video animation produced in 1994 called Final Fantasy: Legend of the Crystals serves as a sequel to the events depicted in the game.

The game begins as a wanderer named Bartz investigates a fallen meteor. There, he encounters several characters, one of whom reveals the danger facing the four Crystals that control the world's elements. These Crystals act as a seal on Exdeath, an evil sorcerer. Bartz and his party must keep the Crystals from being exploited by Exdeath's influence and prevent his resurgence.

Final Fantasy V has been praised for the freedom of customization that the player has over the characters, achieved through the greatly expanded Job System.

EXTRA COMMENT: Hands down one of the most under-rated A+ games that the Super Nintendo had and was one of the first games to get translated thanks to fan content... the reason I named the main character Butz was because of the significance of the original translated patch... the game is memorable for it's battling system, the music, Butz, Gilgamesh and Exdeath make this game stand out against the future titles of this series.

  • As soon as I saw where we were headed @ 2 minutes I said "Phoenix time". A fine dork-out moment for me.

  • Thats always the way with Final Fantasy games. You gain levels and abilities to beat the hard side quest bosses, then you are over-leveled for the end of game boss.

  • Neo-Exdeath is a nightmare but not as much as Omega Weapon... good thing he's optional but impossible to kill on low levels.

  • @heavybassX I dunno if i was over leveled or not. Can't remember what level i was. =/ I had been trying to gain levels to kill omega, though. So its possible.

  • @Metafron Sadly people tend to over-level when it comes to Ex-death... here the first form was easy, Neo-Exdeath is the absolute bitch to beat because OF Grand Cross.

  • Eh, i killed Ex-Death no problem. I was disappointed.

  • One of the greatest achievements ever is the satisfying demise of Exdeath after 2 Grand Crosses, a full team and the best ending you can get.

It's a damn shame that I'll be forever remembering this as one of my all time best achievements.

((I'm the guy that played all this))
