The development of the central promenade is a key element of the strategy to reinvent Morecambe. The objective is to secure a high quality sustainable development that is designed to the highest architectural standards. It should complement the adjacent Midland Hotel by Oliver Hill and take inspiration from this modernist gem.

  • P.S i have traveled all over the world and nothing beats siting outside the midland with a cold beer watching the sun set over the lakes, amazing.

  • This is just what Morecambe needs. I have recently purchased a flat in the area and can see the astounding potential for this place to become an exclusive seaside resort. I applaud Urban Splash for being bold with some excellent ideas and not being scared of change. Sadly a lot of locals who remember morecambe of the 70's etc in its heyday are not being realistic hanging too much onto the past. Cant wait to see BOLD change in the area, keep up the good work chaps!! I love living here.

  • Bring back frontierland!! No wonder nobody comes to morecambe there's sod all to do get buliding some tourist attractions

  • here this is a message for IAN BARKER!

if u want more people to come and enjoy morecambe then friggin bring back frontierland! everybody loved it and morecambe will never be the same without it!if u agree plz comment back!

  • I visited the Midland yesterday after six years... I have to say I was humbled and immensely heartened by what I found. I have stayed away for years not daring to update myself with what fate would lie in wake for this unique Art Deco structure. This architectural work of art was utterly groundbreaking in its day. It has and I hope will forever stand the test of time.
