  • Hi man, I have a question. I want to raise a snail but the problem is I don't know how to pull them out from things.

They tend to die when I do that D: (I unintentionnal separate its body from its shell when I tried to pull them out of things)

  • @MariusThePaladin if this is a serious question then wait for it to rain and garden snails all come out of hiding.. if not then nevermind lolll

  • @eleanorstorer1991 No, man, I'm serious D: It's just that I'm suck at grammar.

What I meant is what should I do when they move and stay on the things that you don't want them to be staying on, like your shoes, or the fornitures, or the street in front of your house. I've tried to pull them out of those things and they are all dead when I do that. So I stop after 2-3 snail dies.

  • @MariusThePaladin they shouldnt die lol you have to be pulling pretty hard to remove the shell, their insides are attached to the shell, so they should let go of what theyre holding on to before it's possible for them to die.. just slide your finger under their body and they grip your finger instead..but after killing so many maybe you should just leave the poor guys alone!

  • @XxFluffyToastxX so where does it say that i'm sulking or that i expected it to live for 100 years?? i knew full well that the average age for a GALS is around 7-10 ..

  • @XxFluffyToastxX dictionary definition of sulking: A period of gloomy and bad-tempered silence stemming from annoyance and resentment

    no. i am not 'sulking'.

  • Wouw.. That really looks like the most boring pet that exists

  • i think it needs some salt

  • @henrik1107 Cont.. :)

Also use organic topsoil/coir/eco earth as the substrate.

I use eco earth. It comes as a block which, when moistened expands to around 8 litres of substrate. It holds moisture well & is suitable.

Also make sure to give them a source of calcium, in the form of a cuttlefish bone usually. You can also mix limestone flour into the substrate.

I hope this helps, I know it seems alot but once you have everything it is actually rather easy :)

  • @henrik1107 Hi :)

Snails are really easy to care for.

Give them a varied diet of fruit and veg. You can also give them weetabix/porridge/low salt dog biscuits with some water. Do not give them anything from the onion family or anything citrus.

Keep them in a glass/plastic tank with a small source of heat, like a small heat mat. Unless your house is always quite warm. If not the snail will seal over the opening to it's shell & you will have to bathe it in warm water to coax it out.

  • That's a fat ass snail lol

  • Thats a big snail

  • Aw, he's pretty cute. Well... In a slimy, snail way. Now get a new one and name it Gary the Second!

  • So how'd you find out he was dead...?
