Don't ever think your Tommy will never lead a normal life, I'm leading a great life, I'm a manager for the ministry of defence, I've got a great partner and a beautiful 1 year old daughter who is unaffected by my condition. It's not something that can be passed down through genes. It's just one of those things that nature throws at us every now and again.
I hope all goes well for Tommy, please keep us updated on his situation.

I've had this operation, it never worked for me but I hope it works for him. Modern medicine had moved on since I had my surgery to open up my ear canals.
I hear fine now thanks to a BAHA hearing aid.
I've also got the bilateral artificial ears that you talked about but I wouldn't change them for the world. I can do all the things that a normal people can do. I can go swiming, fix my car's go to funfairs. You name it I can do it. Nothing restricts me.
