QRNational southbound Nth Coast sweeper train #Y752 is traveling through the Gympie Suburb of Glanmire with Diesel Locomotive 2818 providing the motive power.

This is the first visit to Brisbane for 2818 since May as it is a long term ATP (Auto Train Protection) cut out which usually restricts units to slave locomotives on the Mt Isa line in Northern Queensland.

Also noted were the first six wagons of this train which are VAOW Woodchip wagons which were in use between Owanyilla and Gladstone until the closure of the Owanyilla Woodchip Factory earlier this year. They are now being transfered for use in Western Australia as part of QRN's ARG operation.

  • what do you mean by sweeper train?

  • A sweeper train is a train that picks up all the wagons on the north coast line which are usually restricted to 80 Km/h which would slow down a standard freighter.

  • Now Im no train expert but my buddy who's a QR train driver in WA was suspended for having some grain train footage from his Albany to Redmond run on Youtube.

If one cant post vids from the drivers area then whats the reason he was suspended???

Ive found a number of vid's from the cockpit of trains on Youtube maybe all the drivers should be suspended too.

  • Not good to hear. Another bloke who is a citytrain driver here in Brisbane had the same sort of trouble with QR because of certain videos on Youtube.

He kept his job luckily but his videos are long gone.

  • Those last few tanker thingy's looked like they'd been around a while:)

  • The tanks themselves yes but the underframes have been replaced in the last few years. These are used for transporting fuel between Pinkenba here in Brisbane to Northern Queensland.
