I've often thought of the shapes guitarists make on the fingerboard as "finger ballet". Pas-de-deux is a light ballet dance for two. I haven't quite figured out which two. It might be the little stepping motion that the (i,m) fingers make throughout this piece. The tranquility of the music is broken by a motif in the bass. The words Pas-de-deux (if sung) fit in nicely here to help manage the dotted rythm correctly. Great piece for correct plucking hand posture.
