Using cotton swabs and sealed envelopes, lab technicians began taking DNA samples Monday from hundreds of children and mothers from the polygamist sect in Texas. The AP's John Mone reports. (April 21)

The DNA becomes important in proving that the fathers of the children are having sex with the mothers of these children before the age of legal consent. Imagine if DNA tests prove that the mother of these 8 year old children are only 22 years old, and their fathers are in there mid to late 40s! Or even older!! DNA matters in these cases

@100nickalus I understand what you're saying.Our country is becoming more socialistic everyday no matter what your religion or beliefs.However,the problem with polygamy is that underage girls are being forced to marry much older grown men.That is rape.Even if these women are of age,they are not free in their religion.If they leave they are not allowed to take their children.They will be shunned by family and friends.In some cases people have been kidnapped & even killed for leaving.

@teeharv imagine being born and rasied in the u.s.a. and your of the age of 18 legal consent and some one told you this is the law that you have too submite to what ever you told to do by laws. the last i knew i got out of bed in a free nation not a comunest country.it's the right of the perant to say yes or no. it is still against the law to deprive a person of there rights of life liberty and the pursuit of happieness.that in texas should not have happened.
