Too bad the park turned into the cliche it was destined for.
The place turned into a pit. Everyone would bring their lunches, snacks, and bottles of Mountain Dew...then just throw all the crap all over the place. The local parks crew would empty the trash, but the park users could never hit the buckets anyway.
I believe the town cited at the time that there were thousands of dollars of repairs needed and that the park was hazardous. Also, the police did not like the location.
The town never seemed to repair the park during its short (ten years, maybe?) lifetime even though it was a public facility on public property.
There's fuck all to do in Rutland... kid's right.

One of the reasons they took this down was because it was a 'hot spot' for dealing drugs and giving the 'littler' kids weed and cigarettes, etc.
