It's a joy to watch you riding. I want to own a quarter horse one day. I like it when you see the horse and the rider getting pleasure out of riding.

You will need to start working figure 8s and rib suppling exercises that teach the shoulders to wait for the butt so you dont have dropouts of the back...making sure you take a soft contact on the bit thats just enough to tell the shoulders to wait..not rush while you tap the belly to get the butt to catch up...when they get in sync you release them to move together.

...the second reason is there was a physical boundary that your horse attached to and "used" as a crutch so to speak instead of her own balance...then when you went outside you had wider open spaces and more straight lines...straight lines really test a horse's suppleness and unfortunately you discovered that in a rough way...the shoulders got ahead of the rear end dropping the back which sent the head up for balance and the chest kept going!

I just finished my horse at age 5(she just turned 6) and am started WP. I'm using a plain snaffle and she's very responsive to leg and when you give just a little tug on the bit. She's fine in the round pen but when we get out to the outdoor arena(my facility doesn't have indoor) she speeds up at the trot and the lope and I floss with her ears practically. she did pretty well in draw reins but do you think she just needs a stronger snaffle or keep the draw reins? Or just do circles in the arena

Hello Sockatears, thank you...I do have 6 dvds that are just regular training sessions on horses currently in training..issues ranging from shoulder dropping/control to head and neck softness/control, to backlifting, etc...greener horses to rehab...let me know if youre interested..also have a complete program im in process of developing with workbook and dvds for next year!

Hello WindWolf, I have to say that the reason you werent having as much difficulty in the round pen is cuz of a couple things...one, the horse is already arched slightly in the ribcage cuz of the smaller sized circle and that usually allows for a little more suppleness of the back which makes the topline softer, etc
