Every time a new Democrat becomes party leader in the senate, the left pushes him to advance unpopular measures that make him unelectable back home. 2004 Daschle was defeated. 2010 Harry Reid will be defeated. 2014 Durbin likely gets sent home, too.

Seriously, how are you going to pay for any "public option" when we can't even pay the debt we have now? Is this plan to benefit this generation worth enslaving future Americans to a debt they can't afford to pay?

I'm utterly frustrated by liberals having the first majority in a zillion years, and then failing to do what's best for people either because they're SPINELESS in standing up against thug Republicans, or they're CORRUPT and their allegiance is to corporate lobbyists. Baucus claims he wants bipartisan support but cuts anything that doesn't directly throw money TO the Health Insurance giants in order to get NO SUPPORT at all.

More than three out of every four Americans feel it is important to have a "choice" between a government-run health care insurance option and private coverage, according to a public opinion poll released on Thursday.
A new study by SurveyUSA puts support for a public option at a robust 77 percent, one percentage point higher than where it stood in June.
