Counting down the minutes until D.C. marriage equality legislation became law, D.C. Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D) threw a celebratory party in the Rayburn House Office Building. On hand were D.C. Councilmembers David Catania (I-At Large), who introduced and shepherded the legislation through the D.C. Council, and Phil Mendelson (D-At Large).
As couples who plan to be legally wed under the Districts new law looked on, the Gay Mens Chorus performed a selection of songs.
Unfortunately, none of us are full citizens yet my friend. Not until our entire nation acknowledges our right to marry.
