@Ganapathi6 - My ayugbona (second godparent) is a vegetarian and she only eats the meat during ceremony - as it is considered to be blessed and have the ashe from the ceremony. But apart from that, she sticks to her meatless diet.
I am very interested, I live in manhattan, how can i go about being around like minded people. I think my ancestors want me to learn the truth about this religion. It all started with me lighting a 7 days candle to the african power. To my surprise i learned that the saints on the candle are not the real spirits to look up to . The one on the candle are from a Christian religion
@Ganapathi6 If there is any paths of "Vegetarian" Santeria then it is a fraud. People are entitled to do what they like and I have seen plenty of people come into el Santo and then wanna change it and make it more liberal and what not. These people generally don't last too long or make it very far. Perhaps there's some offshoot of people who claim to be santeros but without making ebbo with an animal. People love to mess with this religion so it wouldn't surprise me. Very unfortunate this is...
@VivaPR21 so then why was traditional yoruba religion changed to fit in with the saints? it apparently survived and is thriving! I agree that its a beautiful religion and i dont feel like anything is fitting me. I keep searching and have been searching for years but havent been called to anything as strongly as Lukumi. Do you know of any paths in Lukumi/ Santeria that are vegetarian?
@guitarspectre Explanation on the following:
1/ Witchcraft (Dominating/controlling force) ie Spells, Curses.
2/Divination (Fortune telling realm) ie Palm, Tarot card, Tea reading, Dreams etc 3/ Sorcery (through objects) ie Charms, Amulets, some Rings.
