Another upload of this later when complete.
Video responses, suggestions and collaborations welcome. There's also a 'rhythm only' part (2nd half) if anyone wants to try any musical ideas out.
Comments about 'Get Real' can be posted in the comments section, but please try to refrain from posting anything about Mac vs PC in there - appreciated if you send PM's instead. Many thanks.

  • Wow this is amazingly beautiful. I wish I could learn how to produce this kind of sound. I'm glad I found your channel. You're a great inspiration to beginners like me.

  • @leohammondb3 Likewise.

In my book you are certainly not a beginner. You are a top notch artist & inspiration as well - great singer & player and I'm honoured to be a subscriber. Thanks for the great comments.

  • how do you get the percusion too sound so ambient???

  • @KeithMMeldrum Well one thing I didn't mention in any of my last comments is that the entire percussion is from Spectrasonics Stylus RMX - where individual hits were modified (notes and velocity to suit) and EQ automation applied. Hope this helps.

  • how do you get that ambient drum sound at 0:48

  • @KeithMMeldrum If I remember correctly those were sounds from the 'Metamorphosis' library from Spectrasonics Stylus RMX. See also reply to your other question. :-)

  • Looking back on my comments I think I should take in that there are similarities and differences in the way each musician works. I remember a quote from pianist Gyorgy Sandor 'Please don't think for a moment that unless you do exactly as I say that you can't be a great pianist. There are many artists who achieve excellent results who play very differently from me'

So the way I should have put it is 'this is how I do it, someone else may be different'. That said, advertising vid to follow soon.

  • @KeithMMeldrum (4) Also I might be asking you and others for advice as well, as listening to your last track you certainly know your stuff - I think it's important for all of us to learn from others while keeping certain things for an individual sound.

Another video I'll upload later is about other acts for recommended viewing... food for thought.

    Thanks again.

  • @KeithMMeldrum (3)... this sound here' or something. There's still plug-ins in Logic I have yet to explore as well.

I have a few duds on my HD, but in them there are some ideas that I'd explore at a later time.

Anyway, cheers for the rating. I will be doing a 'Mac vs PC - conflicts vs resolutions' vid next, then spend a lot of time writing new tracks (25 minimum) & doing stuff with them. More tracks = more tutorials along the way.

Looking forward to some more great stuff from you as well.

  • @KeithMMeldrum (2) - Also it's important to be patient and take regular breaks. I have some projects that I think 'hmm don't think this is working yet. I won't trash it but I'll put it aside and maybe work on it later'. It's amazing how I have a different idea on a project once I have left it for a while.

Of course if you're working to a deadline you just have to take all you know and compress the time to work at a project - even then you may go back to it and think 'hey this could do with...
