This are the original opening credits from FRIENDS - the sitcom. It's completely different from the one used in the show, it also has other music and a different name - Friends Like Us. This one was possibly planned to be used in the show first, but obviously didn't make it. I'm not sure if this video is real at all. It can be fake. But if it is, it's a really good one.
BTW: The song is: REM - Shiny Happy People

Insomnia Cafe to Six of One to Friends Like Us, then the series was finally named Friends. Friends was definitely the way to go, simple and to the point. Sure do miss it!

'Friends Like Us' doesn't have the same ring to it as 'Friends' anyway. "Hey, did you see 'Friends Like Us' last night?" Nope, doesn't work ahaha

I remember that in the first episodes of Friends they had a different theme song and different starting credits from the ones that were used for the remainder of the season. I still remember when I saw the new credits (with the music by the Rembrandts, and the umbrellas and all) and noticing that they had changed the starting credits after very few episodes. I can't remember if this one was the initial one, but at first it was a different one from the one we all know.

"Friends Like Us" was only a working title. Before they actually produced a full episode, it was retitled "Friends". And the opening never changed. Thank god.

It's fake!
The pilot was aired with the current theme song! And since a pilot is used as a poll to investigate interest, no additional episode had been made! In this theme song/opening- credits though, they use scenes from future episode, which hadn't been made! How could you not realise that!?......
