An excellent teaching video! Thanks!

Just curious, how is it that the Colgan aircraft was not subject to a tail plane stall under serious icing conditions?
Did this plane have tail plane de-icing boots or heated tail plane surfaces?

"remember, in almost all tailwind icing accidents, the 'cockpit' hits the ground first". LOL nice closing statement.

Thank you for uploading this. I think it is very useful.

This video, shown to Colgan pilots as part (or all) of their icing training, may be a partial cause of the Continental (Colgan) crash in Buffalo in 2009. The pilot reacted as if his plane were in tailplane stall - the exact opposite of what he would and should have done if he realised he was approaching a normal wing stall. The type of plane he was flying is not subject to tail-stall, but he apparently didn't know this, remembered this video, and his mistake killed all 50 aboard.

Great video. Ice boots suck..almost as much as not having them :)

Very good information. I've encountered icing on many occations and this extra info on tail stall was very helpful. Thanks.
