  • Just a quick question to all of our chinese speaking viewers.

I notice that whenever Hayley sings 的 or de, she pronounces it like "dee".

Shouldn't it sound more like "duh"???

  • @CAinslieI Well, the "dee" pronunciation is correct in poems or songs to rhyme artistically.

  • We Hope so !

  • You can make out her accent! But she did a very good job! The male singer is not as good. Hayley is classy and very smooth as always.

  • @CAinslieI

That's actually a good question. It's sort of like the article "the" in that respect. Sometimes in a song or even a sentence it's more appropriate to say "thee" rather than "thuh."

Same thing for "dee" and "duh."

  • the male singer is not as good lol...good attempt

  • dude seriously, anyone who can pronounce chinese is like a hero in china. I think you should listen to her english songs, she's alot better than that.

  • @CAinslieI: lesliecat is right. In the definitive recording by Teresa Teng, she pronouces it as "dee 地"; the guy sang it as "de 的" (it's short, not long like "duh" :-)), which sounds wooden.

Btw, nobody sings this song anywhere as well as Teresa!!

She sings really beautifully. However, there's no need for me to comment on her Chinese abilities, because heaps of Westerners speak Chinese very fluently. She's just one of many.

  • @CAinslieI It could be de or dee.

  • wtf?;)
