Does #2248 still run on a regular basis?

@TVRM610 She did but in '08 when the back of the cylinder was blown off her runs have been kinda iffy since it was repaired. I think they finished welding the cylinder back together & installing a sleeve around March or April this year & she ran a few weekends & then they found out the dry pipe was leaking. They finally got a new dry pipe & somethin got screwed up when it was installed & from what the guys up in Grapevine told me, they had to get another dry pipe and once it was installed

they got to run 2 times after test runs & the cylinder head cracked in several places & the back cylinder head where the crosshead guides mount was cracked around where the piston rod goes in where it'd been welded before. Grapevine from what I've heard has ok'd to fix it & try to run her again but the guys at Grapevine have told me it'll need a new piston & other work. Hopefully it'll be fixed & she'll be able to run without too many problems afterwards & get to run on a regular basis again.

@2248Chase yah I used to see 2248 pull out every day on runs and if I was out at another park or somewhere else in town I used to hear her whistle while pulling back in sometimes depending on what they had me doing i allways wanted the mowing work by the jail and the depot ..yah I know that mikado is in really bad shape its a shame to hear but it probilly is good most of the cab items are gone so as not to be stolen thats probily a good thing still a shame though I want 819 running there LOL

@gaycowboy31 I woulda loved that job as long as I coulda been out there when 2248 was bein pulled out lol But on that SP mikado they now have a stair set to go into the cab,which Idk if thats the greatest thing cuz whats left could get stolen but nothin much is left in its cab and the floors all rotted out real bad

@2248Chase alright thats what I thought and it leaves at 1pm for the regular run to the stockyards hmm ...I heard somewhere arounf that same estament but I heard arounf 5 million or better but hell who knows that engine sat in Victoria for years salt air and I hear hurricane waters really damaged it interesting its across from the police station now I used to work for the city of Grapevine and my job had me there in that area everyday mowing and keeping that area clean around the depot area

@gaycowboy31 Im guessin fire up would be around 9 or 10ish,it leaves at 1,and I sure wish they could get the other SP engine runnin too but when they asessed everything on it if I remember right somebody said the boiler itself would be over a million to repair and I dont remember how much it was for the running gear,but now shes in the parkin lot on a display track across from the police station

@2248Chase thats cool do you know what time they might do the fire up and test run by chance ..if I get down there i will be driveing a gray Ford Duelly truck lifted I definatlly want to see that i have missed 2248 I remember when they brought in that other SP steam engine I was in town that day and watched the whole thing the delivery the truck in and the cranes unloading it I wish they could get that one running too I also remeber when the tower arrived and was set up

@gaycowboy31 No problem,if you go down there I may end up seein you there cuz Im tryin to figure out a way to go down there in case she is fired up Im dyin to see steam again,she was originally supposed to have her first run back in February but that didn't happen because some test runs didn't get completed and they blew a gasket somewhere (I think on the cylinder) but thats fixed now and my friend up there said they were gonna wait till the Thomas events were over to run her
