"Comedy and railways.. what more could you want in a film!!"
couldnt agree more

The second tunnel exit is Southampton Central (or Southampton West in those days according to Wikipedia). Where the sidings are there is a large office block (housing the local South West Trains HQ) and the power station on the left is now Toys 'R' Us. How things change.

Its always been a mystery to me where the opening scene was shot. Silver Link was named in 1935 so this is some two years later. I have never found out where the scene was.

@01276 you are correct, this was shot from the back of a train and then run in reverse for the start of the film.
-
@01276 Not always. GNER quite often change from left to right and vise versa.

@umaisthebest think of it as a road you wouldent drive on the wrong side
well its the same with trains
-
@01276 not only that differant companies of the day used differant sides to drive like the GWR used to drive there engines on the right hand side

OH MR PORTER 4 LIFE DUMB MOTHERFUCKAS
I can't quite get my head around what is supposedly wrong with the way the train is travelling! It looks fine to me!

trains 'drive' on the left, this is on the right hand side track hence the track to the left, tis like filming from the back of your car and then playing it in reverse ;)
