  • Did you get footage just North of York where I took mine after dashing from the station?

  • We have a little be more than on on this but as soon as we got any speed the wind just takes out the sound. Stopped pretty much as soon as the curve straightends out so can't tell exactly your spot.

  • Just after it straightens, you pass the sugar beet factory on the left, then the Harogate line splits, and I'm just after then.

  • Ah OK, after Skelton Junction, - stopped before that.

  • My wife and I were on the train - sat not far from you it seems.

EXCELLENT - a reminder of a brilliant day, well done all.

Pity no footage of the last two miles of Stoke - still, can't have everything!!

  • Thanks We got some footage on Stoke but can't see the loco and all you can hear is wind....

  • lol i see you went on this 1 aswell as gresely lol i also seen this one just south of heaton cs its coming up this year aswell on the coronation and the cathedrals express

  • Excellent. Thanks. I went on spur of moment to Alton today (Watercress Line) to see what they were running under steam and it was 60019 Bittern ! I last saw this locomotive at King's Cross in about 1957. I had no idea it was still around. What a superb machine !

  • great video - really enjoyed it. Thanks

  • Four of the A4s were named / re-named after British Commonwealth countries, ie, Empire of India, Commonwealth of Australia, Dominion of Canada, Union of South Africa. My understanding is that they were each fitted with a unique whistle donated by their adopted country. Two survive, 'Canada' is preserved as a static exhibit in Canada. 'South Africa' is alive and well and running in the UK. It sounds as though 'Africa' still has her special whistle.

  • Nay mind, I dashed like a bat outta hell to get there, then if you watch the video, I nearly cocked up the one shot at it!

  • it be a 3 tone if that helps, in, aparently A minor

  • I meant what tone of whistle? And your "suprisingly" is not really nesscesary to be honest is it?

  • Suprisingly an A4 like Mallard and Gresley, and when Scotsman comes back out, she will be fitted with an A3 one
