Rosa advocates for an amendment to the Defense Authorization bill to create a post-deployment mental health screening program, which she introduced with Reps. Courtney, McMahon, and Teague. The amendment directs the Secretary of Defense to conduct a demonstration project at two military installations, one active duty and one reserve component demobilization station, to assess the feasibility and efficacy of providing a post-deployment mental health screening between a member of the Armed Forces and a mental health provider. The two year project will include a combat stress evaluation conducted in person by a qualified mental health professional within 120 to 180 days after the date on which the member returns from combat theater and follow up phone calls from a case manager.
