Me getting to know 182cm long Blizzard Titanium Sigma GS skis (21m).
I tried some medium-long to medium turns on mostly red (one section of the ski-run was rather to be described as "black", however) ski run early in the morning in Arabba, february 2006. The compound was rather hard, Occassionally frost and little bit icy... In the end of the video you can see slightly slomotioned sequences, some of them a bit zoomed so that some of the erratic bits and pieces of my then technique can be seen...

  • buddy, I appreciate your enthusiasm and self-confidence, it's very important for a ski racer, for sure... Please go ahead and post a video response :)

  • dude im 14 and im like better than tht

  • @briankulunk Dude, you can't be... These are real ADULT's stock race skis... Maybe on your kid's skis you're better, but not on this stuff... Plus, I've made some progress since this video was shot, too :) Anyways, until you post a videoresponse of yourself better than this, your comment is considered useless. ;)

  • your a solid skier Tomas and a good sport to put it all out in this forum. What binding system did you use in this video with the Blizzard skis? what ski boot are you on?

  • Well, I think that was some test pair, so it's pretty possible, that the binding was a rental type, but I remember, that there was a proper plate underneath it... The boots at the time were Salamon CrossMax 10 - flex index 110 or 100 I believe - I've exchanged them for Falcons since then... Something harder - gives me some better control, but I yet have to post a video of me on the different equipment...

  • The knees look pretty straight but until the fore and aft is where your skeleton needs to be the canting then becomes secondary. The left footed turn is stronger than his right. There is more upper body rotation on the right footed turn in addition there is tendancy to lose the tail of the outside ski which then also overweights the inside ski. All fore and aft related feet up not shoulders down

  • Yeah, that's pretty much a very precise analysis... SOme of the problems I've eliminated, however, I still tend to lose the tail of the outside ski, ending up more on the inside... Thanks for the comments:)

  • On the whole very good but you are throwing your upper body around alot! Try to keep a quiet upper body.

  • @c4rv3r yeah I like nordica speedmachine 130's(2011's)

  • @c4rv3r dont hate on him, there's 14 and 15 year olds(like me) who race on blizzard, volkl, and fischer all the time.

  • Also I noticed that at :56 you are putting must of the pressure on the inside ski which causes you to lose balance. Thats why its good to have +60% pressure on the out side ski and less then 40% on the inside ski to give you more stability on ice steep slopes.

  • Not to be mean but Im 15 and my height is 5 foot 6 inches my weight is 150 pounds and I can turn the 185cm blizzard GS skis better then you .

  • @c4rv3r yup when my friend get his camera working no problem ill respon tht way ok but im just sayin i can do that little kid hill in 1 second carving :)

  • @briankulunk You might rip on skis but surely you fail on attitude.

  • @c4rv3r Man, if you're trying (or have need) to prove yourself to 14 year old brat over the internet, you're doomed to fail. Watch -> xkcd.com/386/ and have a happy new year!

  • @ :56 Dude, you're lucky you didn't end up in the trees. Try getting weight on the new ski before crossing over.
