Marshall DSL50 w. Mercury Magnetics Demo

Marshall DSL50 (JCM2000) head with Marshall 4X12 with Celesion Vintage 30's. Played with a Gibson Les Paul 58 reissue (stock) with George L's cable. Head has Mercury Magnetics Output Transformer and Choke installed. Loaded with JJ preamp tubes and Svetlana output tubes biased to 41mV. Check out their website @ mercurymagnetics.com ..... BTW, The master volume on the gain channel was only on (1) so you can probably get an idea of the sheer volume it possesses. With the master on (4) it's violently loud and sweetens up nicely with even more detail.

Have you noticed a significant difference after installing the new MM OT and choke? Sounds great. Just wondering how big of a difference from before.

@crazyfreak1919 Thanks. Yeah, I noticed the difference as soon as I first fired it up. It's even better if you set the bias a little hot. It's a great amp stock but I like it much more now...

got this same amp & am about to do tubes & maybe the MM-OT (which i hear you can do yourself) sounds great, just cut back the treble & presence when you turn it up (i play settings @2 ) its very trebly amp with single coils... but kills with a gibson . my cab still got the G-75 celestions .....

the MM's work real good with greenbacks.OTOH,heyboers seem to take to the vintage 30's.

it's all about finding the right balance for your taste.

Pacific transformers spank MM...the difference is like removing a blanket over the speakers once you drop a pacific transformer in and it reacts a lot better. feels like it sucks the notes right off your fingers
