  • @dagger377 Oh dear, touchy aren't we? Last time I looked it said Port Stanley, unless you've invaded again recently, in which case I'm sure we'd have heard about it. And I have no need to travel to Argentina, we have Fray Bentos corned beef delivered over here in the UK. But ta for the invite.

  • @digireedoo is PUERTO ARGENTINO and the operation was a complete waste of military assets , the runaway continued to be operational in the whole conflict , you could do the same damage with a single harrier. if you have something to say about our conscript army come by and tell it in my face armchair warrior im not affraid of you fucker. little queenie's peasant.

  • @dagger377 It's Port Stanley. And if you think it was a waste of effort, imagine your poor conscript army crapping their pants when it happened. They knew that no matter how far away they were from Britain, they were not safe.

  • @Cacadore you are wrong cacadore the military junta choose not no enlarge the runaway at puerto argentino way before the vulcan attack. what is true indeed is that the mirages III were withdrawn from operations and had to provide home defense in capital federal but their resume operations in may 25 th deflecting enemy caps from their main course enabling the a4 to bomb naval targets.

  • @Cacadore hello cacadore the runaway was only struck by 1 single bomb and they continue to be operational. we covered it with iron sticks and we fill the hole in no time.

the black buick operation was a complete waste of military resources

  • If you take out an enemy runway from 3500 miles away you save alot of lives and blow a huge hole in enemy moral an d make the argintine polititions scared of whats to come. it's a good mission that proves to the world that your land is within reach of a large bomber force and freefall nukes.

  • maybe You find the flaw in my comment, but that would mean You know some facts or do some research... I am waiting ;o)

  • The argies never thought they need to fight a war when invading South Georgia and the Falklands, the planners of the argies You said ? well then look at the Argentines Airforce after the war, the pilots where drained and minimized to a dangerous low ammount. Again, the crabs wanted to participate in the fight. I ask where was the promised AEW Nimrod, where was the ASW, the Nimrods where doing great but way to far away. And the AEW Nimrod wasnt availlable....bravo zulu grabs (ironic)

  • Well there are no books left I can read about that topic, the main air movements at Port Stanley airfield where Pucaras (as on Goose green) and the whole was at the end or the beginning of the runway. Such a hole is repaired in no time, for temporarly usage, and for fighters with a full bomb load and fuellevel the runway was way too short. The best hit against the supply lines was the downed C130 by Sharkey Ward. The Roland systems and the AAA around the field were a real threat as well

  • The phrase 'kept vital assets back' including Mirages, comes from Argentine planners.

The hole was not 'repaired very fast'. You don't repair holes as deep as that without majot reconstruction: they could only cover it temporarily. I suggest you read a little more about it..
