Here we are roughing in the combustion chamber, using very shallow cuts with a high feed rate. These are machined as a 3D surface. The next step is to mount the heads onto the 4th axis fixture and rotated through the various planes to machine the intake/exhaust, rocker area etc.

  • Don't you need to cast the water jackets?  Or is your CNC capable of doing that too?

    By the way - Great videos!

  • Well, actually, this is going on an aircooled engine, therefore no water jackets. If it was to be water cooled then we would be looking at casting and then finish machining.

  • If you were to do that by hand , how on earth would you know what you are doing and how do you learn this stuff. I would love to know how to make stuff from scratch but would have no idea what I was doing.
