En este papel es donde resulta más brillante Domingo, aquí Pavarotti no tiene nada que hacer, porque son dos voces muy distintas. A Plácido le van las arias donde su voz exprese las emociones. En esto es único y Pavarotti en los agudos. Me molesta las comparaciones, pero, quizás sean inevitables.

@sugarbist, Sorry for intervene in your conversation sugarbist, but I think A night at the opera doesn't mean to describe or qualify a tenor like Domingo, even at the rol in question. By the same method could say the same about many other tenors. One night, good or bad, is only that 'one night', however respect your opinion also . Saludos.

@hightenor123 I must say, that on a positive note, Domingo is a good musician and he does have a fine quality of voice.When you grow up listening to a tenor voice& get use to it, you become byest as I did with my favorites ,whom also have their shortcomings.Enjoy

@hightenor123 I'm a little older&perhaps became spoiled growing up listening to Del Monaco,Corelli&DiStefano&also seeing them live,perhaps set a standard that has not been equalled since,I saw Corelli in Trovatore&he was truly spectacular.I saw Di Stefano at Carnegie Hall,The voice is the same as on records except for the beautiful overtones.I saw MDM in concert form Otello,He was the most surprizing as the voice was more beautiful& he sounded like he had a built in amplifier.

@sugarbist Well, I think the best reason to love or dislike a singer is to hear him live. So you totally have the right to your opinion. I am a little too young to have heard domingo in his day. I appreciate his video recordings, which I grew up with, and I got to see him as Boccanegra, which was a more of a night of nostalgia at the met. He will always, for better or worse, be my first Cavaradossi, Calaf, Hoffmann, Otello, Riccardo on video so it is what it is.

@hightenor123 Over the years I've attempted to like Domingo,But his tenor voice really has never worked for me.I became convince of this after seeing PD live in I Pagliacci circa 1995.He was almost inaudible and I felt the role was just too big for him. A night of strangled high notes and squeezing the passagio.I was looking forward to a wonderful performance,but I was turned away by sub par vocals & shortened phrasing.You seem to be a suppoter of PD which is wonderful for you and I respect that

@sugarbist S'ok, he wouldn't transpose this, it doesn't go above a flat, he actually sang it in key for the 125 met gala in 2009, but he does transpose quite a bit, I do know that,

The aria sounds transposed down. wow thats shocking. Why would a world class tenor do that. Perhaps the role might be too big for him or maybe the emperor did wear clothes
