  • Amazing! This really started it all. Just remember that at the time, the world was so small no tv's, no internet, nothing. People that lived in the the country never saw city life, and vice versa. Seeing these clips was a major advancement. I still can't believe that these clips were around when my great great grandparents were alive.

  • And to think....even the children featured in some of these films are long gone.

  • These clips are amazing! I just got back to my dorm, Im a student at massART in Boston, ma.. and as an intro to my first day of semester II, in my visual language class, my teacher showed us these clips and the James Turrell Roden Curator. Amazing stuff.. loved these clips the most!

According to historians there was a tremendous feeling of optimism for the future at the end of the 1800's and early 1900's. Electricity, new medicines, cars, trams, modern sanitation, a lot fhe things we take for granted.

This optimism ended 1914. Apparently mankind wasn't "civilized" enough in the 20'th century, like many people had believed until then. The effects of this formed the culture we live in today.

  • Please! Someone hug that crying child for goodness sake.
