  • Nothing as good as Jamaicans! The island people !!!!!

  • drug store cowboy is where i first heard this song

  • First reggae song I ever heard I believe. Was still a teenager in L.A. Good stuff. Thanks.

  • r Dekker explained how "Israelites" was written. "It all happened so quickly. I didn't write that song sitting around a piano or playing a guitar. I was walking in the park, eating corn. I heard a couple arguing about money. She was saying she needed money and he was saying the work he was doing was not giving him enough. I relate to those things and began to sing a little song - 'You get up in the morning and you slaving for bread.' By the time I got home it was complete." copied from wiki

  • Excellent, as good as it gets. I remember first hearing this in 1969 after getting out of high school. I believe that it was the first real reggae song that I ever heard. Watch the 2004 Jools Holland show version on youtube for an updated version with horns, with the late Desmond singing as good as ever.

Also, congrats to Jamaica's kick-ass track team!

  • XAPHOON YOU CRAZY!

  • i though it said get up in the morning sleeping for breakfast.

  • i thought it sed ohhh ohh the iserelight

  • @hooleyqueen - Um I think you need to check out Jamaican history. They are ALL slaves and were not native to the Island of Jamaica. They were brought from the land known falsely today as "Africa". The so called Jamaicans were descendants of the Israelites who fled towards Egypt after a series of invasions. They were gathered from those regions during the slavery trades.

  • @furrybuddha - You may want to read up on the Khazars of Europe who converted to Judaism. It is these who lived in Germany, the Rhine, Poland, Russia etc... and eventually left and went to Israel in 1948. The Jews in Israel today are not and NEVER were native to that land. This also explains why they are all called Jews when the truth is that there are 12 tribes which form the nation of Israel.
