READ: (if you want to know about the two rescue horse,s read this chunk - if not scroll down to the small paragraph :P) In the video it says I have worked with four horses, infact, i've worked with five in total throughout 2009, however. Amber - the chestnut mare that was rescued and brought to us alongside Powlo was un-riddable and very old, VERY shy - which means shy of even small things like the camera, but she came on alot. By the end she was able to be stroked on her head, groomed on her face (she was headshy, very!) And she could also do a little bit of the circling game and stand still to do the friendly game (carrot stick waved round her, that sorta thing)
And the other horse has been Chipper, I only play with her when Liz is away, however I thought it would be unfair to put videos of her in here of her doing amazing parelli work with me when I wasn't infact her trainer, I've just been teaching her a little bit of new things with Gwyn but Liz did 11 years of hard work so me being congratulated on it wouldn't be fair!
Powlo: As most of you (unless subbed recently - thanks!) will know, Powlo was a rescued arab stallion that came to us about 3 months into 2009, so march time? And stayed with us till around September. In that 7 months he came on alot. He was extremley shy and nervous of all humans, yes - he was loaded into a trailer you might be thinking, so he can't be that bad? Truth is - he was sedated on the strongest one and his four feet had to be lifted up onto the trailer, and the trailer had to be made safe for him to travel home in. Once he got here, we spent the 1st probably 3 weeks without doing anything, just saying Hello over the fence, taking the dogs out, getting alot of people to stand near him, offering him carrots - He didn't even want them & trust me he's a right pig! After that, we started parelli with him, well - we walked him round the field, chased him a bit, made him trot behind us, groom him, fuss him - nothing serious. Next, Jo said she was pretty busy and it the nights were long! And it was nearly my school holidays so Jo said I should do most of it, even though I already was! And, he improved alot! (I didn't know if I was really allowed to play with him, shes a vet and an incredible horse woman so I listen to her and she would know the most if Powlo was ready to be worked with so when she said Yes, pretty much up to me) , so yeah, he did improve, we learnt the circling game and how to stop (looking at his flanks, he turns his bum -) and he stood there with the carrot stick waved round his bum (BIG achievemtn - he was moody) . After that - summer holidays, he got moved up the road to live with Gwyn and with the two of them, they got on so well! (All the clips in this video where he's trotting round me with nothing on and with a halter on were in this field) ; He did SO well, he was able to trot round nothing on, like i've just said but hey. LMAO, then, then, then :D Hehe, we started riding - he was led at 1st, Jo led me, and then she let me off and asked me to trot, I was abit like erm? Ok.. but really wanted to, and he did so well, bit of a cheat as he had a very senstive mouth but he went into an outline, she's got the videos and pics somewhere! Gonna' have to steal them. - About 2 weeks later we got a call from her friend who has one of the arabs that were in that field and bad state alongside powlo, saying she'd found out he was an ex-race horse and he used to lvie in Newmarket Race tracks until he was 3, then was dumped there (the records of owners stopped so we believe he was in that bad place for around 12 years :| ) ;So in the time we got him, we just built up his trust and I rode him, 3x a week? And we experienced our 1sdt tropt poles! (Jump - in the circling game) and we also did our 1st canter, big achievement. He's hard to canter!
He is now RE-HOMED, ask why? Fine, but cba to write it out :) I miss that little man :( Although he's in a 5* home, I cried making this realising how much he did help me!
Smokey & Gwyn - the two little welsh's ;) there stories on LOADS of videos of mine, and i don't wanna bore you out by writing you ANOTHER essay. 2010 - Gwyn has now completed everything on the ground in parelli, very happy :) And we are now focusing on riding him in the halter and competing him (need a trailer!) And smokey, BIG year - he's being retrained, its started a bit now, but when the weathers better, will be a big project, very excited :) I'm also starting colege at a equine college (hopefully) so will be random videos of their horses. (:
Using parelli, my dream wehn i'm older is to work with problem/unbroken/green/neglected/abused horses, thanks for all your support :)
