Here's a song that has been requested many times by some of you! A very cool Rush classic... I used mallets on the floor tom for simulating a gong bass drum at the beginning of the song. The cowbell is played with my left foot using the hi-hat controller from the Roland kit. The small pad next to the hi-hat is also used for some electronic tom effects. I had planned to only practice it tonight and do the video later but I had so much fun with this song that I could not resist to put it on tape! Not perfect, of course, but I tried! Enjoy!

  • Wow. I'm blown away. Ive played professionally in a few bands on Sony and Geffen. I think there's a point where one becomes so good, that they should move on to find their voice. Peart is the benchmark for greatness. Where do you go from there? You find your voice, and get in a band. All the "great" drummers, have a voice. You will 2 Im sure. Have you ever heard Steve Smith on Tony Macalpines album, Edge of Insanity? Worth a listen for sure!!! Keep rockin bro!!!

  • @vonvlad67 Thank you! Well, I have been playing for a long time, wrote originals in the past, been in bands playing all kind of stuff. Drumming is a *hobby* for me. When I sit down behind the kit, I want to have fun, while playing something matching my own personality. Right now, Rush songs always give me that. I always aim at getting better (of course!) but my main goal is just to enjoy playing. So, I don't consider myself too seriously and will never compare myself to the great, real pros.

  • Sorry I wasn't able to meet up with you. I was up in 220 stage right. Hope you enjoyed the show. I thought it was brilliant. Even got me a Rash shirt. HAHA

  • @CDV5226 It was a fantastic show. Neil was on fire and his solo was top-notch, more relaxed, faster and more powerful than what I had seen in a long time. Top performance, although I thought the crowd was a bit too quiet.... ;)

  • Hey Astro...Getting reading for the Rush show in Phoenix. You coming up here?

  • @CDV5226 Yes! In PHX right now. Come say hello section 114 row 18 seat 7

  • needs more cowbell ;)

  • thats ridiculous.

  • That is some awesome drum playing!!!

  • Nicely done! Your rolls were awesome! Smooth and tight. Neil would be proud!

  • Nice job. I enjoyed listening.

  • @yurid93 Thank you! Yes and Led Zep are two bands I like a lot and I can play many songs from them. I had a video of a Yes song but it was removed by YouTube. Led Zep: They are so many covers out there so I'm not sure what I could add.....

  • I agree...the crowd was pretty tame. Far from a Brazilian crowd. Neil always gives me more to work toward and my view gave me some insight to some parts I've been working through. Of course..You are a huge help. Be well my friend.

    Christopher
