Cantiga 23 "Como Deus fez vynno d'agua"

Esta es cómo Santa María acecentó el vino en un tonel,
por amor a la buena dama de Bretaña.

"Como Dios hizo vino del agua ante el antetriclinio,
así después su Madre acrecentó bien el vino."

De esto diré un milagro que hizo en Bretaña,
por una dueña muy sin malicia, que Dios
había dotado de buenas costumbres y de habilidades,
y que quiso ser de ella como un buen vecino.

Sobre todas las bondades que tenía,
resaltaba que confiaba mucho en Santa María,
y con eso, le evitó el avergonzarse ante el rey,
que de camino, paraba en su casa.

La dueña, por servirlo, anduvo muy ajetreada,
y le dio carne y pescado, y pan, y cebada,
pero de buen vino, para él, estaba muy escasa,
porque no tenía sino un poco en un barrilillo.

Se le doblaba la cuita, que aunque quisiese tenerlo,
no era tierra aquella en cual lo hubiese,
ni por dinero ni por otra cosa que diera (ni lo hubiera),
sino fuese por la Madre del Viejo y Niño

Y con esta esperanza se fue a la iglesia
y dijo: "Ay, Santa María; tu merced hace
que me saques de esta vergüenza tan grande,
si no ya no podré vestir ni lana ni lino."

De inmediato la oración de la dueña fue oída
y el rey, con toda su compañía,
fue servido de buen vino, y en la bodega no faltó,
que lo hallaron en abundancia, el rico y el pobre.




This is how Holy Mary replenished the wine in the cask out of love for the good lady of England.
"As God made wine from water before the governor of the feast (John 2:1-11/the marriage of Cana), so on another occasion His Mother replenished the wine."
Of this, I shall tell a miracle which Holy Mary performed in England for a gentle lady whom God had endowed with good habits and seemly manners, for He wished her for one of His own.
Of all the good qualities that she had, the best was that she sincerely trusted in Holy Mary, who saved her from shame before the king one day when he chanced to stop over at her house.
The lady bustled about to serve him and gave him meat and fish and bread and barley, but she was very short of good wine, for she had only a little in a small cask.
Her plight was redoubled, for although she tried to get some, there was none in the land to be had for money or any other possession she might give. Her only recourse was the aid of the Mother of the Father and Son.
With this hope, she went to the church and said: "Oh, Holy Mary, please have mercy and spare me this great shame. If not, I shall never again wear wool or linen."
At one the lady's prayer was heard, and the king and all his company were well supplied with good wine, and the wine cellar did not run so low that rich and poor could not find plenty there.

The word archetecryo comes from greek archyetryklynos, and it's literal in the Gospel of Saint John, when narrating the miracle at Kana of Galilee. John 2:9.

@imtoro A lenda do Rei Artur é da Bretanha (Grã-Bretanha), do sul e centro de Inglaterra etc. e com o País de Gales também envolvido como origem, tal como a Inglaterra - quando ainda eram a Britannia Romana e a ilha Britanica pós-romana.

A Bretanha francesa (Armorica) herdou o nome de Bretagne de muitos imigrantes e refugiados da Britannia(Inglaterra-Gales-Cal­edonia) devido à invasão Saxónica da Ilha, que se misturaram com os gauleses locais e até com francos e normandos mais tarde.
