By telling him that he was 100% going to pick steal, the other player thought that his chances of having some of the money was either going to be a definite 0 if he chose the steal ball also, or he would possibly get half if he chose the split ball. By employing this tactic, Nick forced the other player into choosing split, henceforth Nick knew he was 100% going to get half of the jackpot, because he knew, he would infact choose split. That man is a genius.

I think this was a pretty smart move. I actually saw this episode when it was on tv so there is something extra that isn't shown here. During the 2nd round, the remaining three contestants state whether they intend to split or steal at the end. They don't always go through with this, sometimes they change their mind. In this case, Ibrahim had said he was going to Steal no matter what. So by employing this tactic, he possibly changed Ibrahim's mind (watch video, Ibrahim picks the Steal ball 1st)

Reverse psychology well used. A very smart move to break down the prisoner's dilemma. Well done.

But my point is that, the white guy didn't have to split because even if he stole they both would would have shared it outside the show (If he kept his word) so for the asian guy, it wouldn't be worth risking it by stealing because he is guaranteed half the money anyway

This guy's strategy is the best. Even if the other guy chooses steal, the other guy would realise what he was trying to do and would more likely accept to split the money even after he chose steal. Openly saying you are going to pick the steal ball is the best option. By saying your are 100% going to pick steal, you are assured that the other guy thinks that choosing the steal ball mean he is defenitly going to lose everything no matter what. That guy "won" the game.

No, its only obvious because you assume the guy is honest. He had no legal obligation to split the money with him if he stole the lot, thats why the choice was so difficult.

The point being he made the black guy think he had to split, and thusly not steal.... In other words, the other player stealing = bad

What would be the point in bluffing? He didn't have to bluff because the outcome was the same.

The black guy should of read it and stolen, it was obvious what was going to happen, its the most basic bluff in the book.
