it`s possible but you must have a great filtration system, and do a 25-50% water change at least once a week.

So do you think I could get one regular JD and one firemouth in a 55 gallon tank? Thanks if you respond.

I have a adult Fire Mouth who will be relocated to a 55 gallon tonight with a Alligator Gar(they grew up together and are not aggressive towards each other). I also have a baby Fire Mouth(about 3/4 to an inch). Will they be ok together, and I am planing an putting up to 7 African Cichlids with them. What do you think about it?

@1992pattrow hi, has the baby firemouth and gar been together? Id be very careful about the small size of that baby with them. As far as the A.Cichlids go, I have heard from many that it is not a good idea to mix South American and African Cichlids together. They just dont do well. IMO I would go with either the SA cichlids or the A. Cichlids, but not both. Tho the A. Cichlids are fantastic fish, their PH needs are totally different. Best of luck with them. :-)

due to the firemouths` vids im watching,i supose they cannot live in a 40 gal tank with a pair of blue gouramis, can they??

Depends on how many firemouths u have in that 40g tank. I found that they were not really aggressive with other fish and u may be ok with the pair of Gouramis. But again, depends on how many firemouths u plan on keeping. I think you can get away with 2 of them plus the Gourami's but others may have more suggestions for u. good luck. :-)

that was just what i was planning.only one,or two firemouths.ive been told they wont harm the other fish if they are already there,i mean if the firemouths are the last to arrive.may be its not a bad idea.btw,if i put two of them, the domminant will only pursue the weak, and that way it wont harm the other fish,am i right??

I found that my firemouths were pretty tame, not at all aggressive to my other fish. Of course, big fish eats little fish rule still applies. There is always the dominant fish, but hopefully ur 2 firemouths will get along well enough that 1 is not injured or stressed out so much that u loose it. Just make sure to have plenty of hiding places such as plants rocks..etc that will help break up the view and give them places to hide out if need be. good luck
