This shows how to replace the gas piston in an AK47 style rifle that has the piston threaded in and riveted. Even though it shows me using a milling machine and a v-block to do it you can use a drill press and a vise to do the same thing.

Check out my website http://www.ak-builder.com to order heat treated gas pistons not the soft ones like everybody else sells.

  • My Gas piston pin came out the other day at the range, so I took it to my gunsmith today and he put a new one in (Gas Piston Roller Pin), drilled, hammer, filed, the whole 9 yards, then today after I cleaned it I had dry cycled it a few times and the pin came right back out. What should I do?! HELP!

  • What are the two sizes of the drill bits?

  • I wish there was an audio track. Still quite good. The rivet hole looks to be a little less than 1/8". I did a hole a couple sizes smaller and I'm glad I did since without his tools I couldn't exactly line it up. It was off but virtually all in the rivet hole. Some are loose. I have a bunch of kits and a few are wobbly but they must have worked. The AK47 is truly an amazing design. Made by surly drunks and used by peasants.
