how do you get the sound of the g string loud enough to be heard over the low e, a and d strings.

essentially i just hold down the frets extra hard on the G and focus the strum more towards the middle of the six strings than i would if it was just a standard bar chord where i would strum harder on the low E and A, etc. it also could have something to do with the acoustics, or the mic (i was using my rockband mic plugged into my laptop lol). hope that helps some.
