From a recording of music made in Cavan in December 2003, a piano solo by music teacher Catriona Cullivan from Stradone, Co. Cavan. She plays two reels: "The Baltimore Salute" and "Crehan's". Our sincere thanks to accordion player Martin Donohoe (http://www.tastytouches.com) for arranging the recording.

Nice playing. I've been futzing around with playing tunes on the piano and it's not a common instrument at all, except as backing of course. You can name all the musicians who played tunes on the piano with the fingers of one hand, I think - of course there are many young players like Catriona who we just don't get to hear, too.
Incidentally in trad music "songs are sung, tunes are played." There aren't "scores," just books with the bare melody of tunes. It's played by ear by and large.
