@Tonitrap No No... the series started with this terrible game! :) There´s a "parody", using what appear the same engine used in Fighting Street, that was released for PC -Engine, the Strip Fighters and Strip Fighters 2.. awful!

the arcade version was the shit back in the days when I was a kid...it wasn;t really about the graphics that made it so popular..it was the process of mastering hadoken and shoryuken that made it so revolutionary back in the days. (special moves were extremely difficult to pull off even on the arcades)
