Kali is one of the many forms of Shakti. Maha Kaali is the fiercest of all goddesses of Hinduism. The word Kali has its roots in the Sanskrit word "Kaal", which means time. And nothing escapes from time. Goddess Kali is sometimes referred as the goddess of death. But actually Kali brings the death of the ego. Even in the scriptures, she has killed demons but not anyone else. Kali is also not associated with Yama (the Hindu God of Death). Kali is considered a form of mother too. Maa Kali is one of the few Goddesses who are celibate and practice renunciation.

@DurgaShanti The demons that Kali Ma destroys are our own inner demons. If you are brave enough to go before her she will absorb your inner darkness and grant consciousness. Her sword destroys our egos and the head she holds is that of the devotee who has willingly surrendered his/her ego to her. Our egos are the cause of all our ills and the source of all human misery.

@robert46514: Ma Kali does not "kill" the demons per say.Its called "sanhaar" where the Gods/Goddesses. out of empathy & compassion, take away the evil of your soul and let the pure essence mingle in their own "purest of all being". it is like a mother takes the child under her wings and then guides him/her through the tasks of life and beyond. it is an obligation where the Lord finally grants u the wish of getting rid of all that bothers you and keeps you from finding the equillibrium of life.

This is from the first Adiemus album, with Miriam Stockly on vocals, written by Karl Jenkins. It's nothing to do with Enya, dear ones. Recorded at Angel Studios, London, engineered by Steve Price. A wonderful piece of music, great choice! It combines Township style vocals from South Africa (where Miriam is from, although she is white) and the haunting Bulgarian voices.
