Of course these biological imperatives are something we cannot be rid of...if we could I would do it without a second thought.

We can however, use our logical mind to supress these basic instincts. We can become better than we are born to be.

  • @CoralineWinter

Emotions are fine and dandy, until you come to understand that they are the architects of your slavery. Your logical mind is the one that drives you to learn, to understand, to improve and to become powerful and potent.

Your innate biological instincts, your urge to procreate without reason, your urge to eat and sleep and shit are the ones that are destructive. They serve no purpose to you as an individual, only as a benefit to the species.

I found myself laughing and feeling refreshingly liberated.

  • @Megido Dude, I think a great deal of people have gone through what we have, although maybe not in the SAME exact way, but y'know what I mean.. We'll never truly know until the time comes.. We may not ever even know afterwards, depending on what actually happens. Why is that thought scary? I know, everyone would LIKE to be of some importance, but we're only doing what we have no choice but to do.. which is live. Who knows why? It's not relevant. Why is that thought scary? It SHOULD be freeing.

  • @SpyronicBanjocoot Honestly, I'm getting to the point where I'm not scared, just curious. Not like, "Man, I can't wait to die!" More like at least then I'll know (or not know) what the deal is.

Also, I feel like dying isn't the scary thing; it's the thought that nothing we do matters.

  • @Megido Well, where was I before I was born? My "consciousness" (or whatever it is) did not exist. The lack of a self or anything is all I have to go by. Other than that, no, I don't know. I don't want to know, but it's not about what we want, is it? It CAN be a terrifying feeling when you think about what is coming.. But it is what it is. Fearing the inevitable is useless and only drains you and leaves your nerves shot. What can be done?

  • @SpyronicBanjocoot You understand what it's like to not exist, do you?

  • @Megido What could you not comprehend? We cease to exist. Despite that natural innate feeling of being "special" - our bodies are all bombs, tied down by the same ropes lit by the same flame that's slowly coming for us all. You exist within the here and now.. you won't exist to even care when the time comes, and if you've been listening to Hicks, you might be open to the idea of an afterlife, just not the stereotypical christian one.
