This is my '76 Unimog 406 pulling a 29.5"x 25" diameter oval Red Oak log that's 17' long across a creek. The creek bank on the other side is over 4-1/2' high...the Mog drops in and muscles right across. It's also smoking more than usual from sitting for about 30 minutes idling while I was setting up and winching that log to where I could get to it. Winch is a 20,000 lb Garwood PTO unit from a US Military 5 ton truck. Tires are Michelin XM-47's they work nice in this setting.

  • Great stuff! Our Mogs were designed for working, you going to mill the log?

  • @AuSnuff, price of wood has dropped so it's almost not worth it. I dragged that one up to my neighbor's place as he'll make some BTU's out of it this winter. :)
