Is it okay to use sand from, like, sand boxes in the park?
-
@ILoveMyName01 If I would have kept all of my babies I would have about 50, or even more. Your local pet shop, or pet shop supplier might take them, and even pay for them if you're lucky.

should i be worried because my i have two gerbils (Laku and Salmis) but Salmis doesn't really know how to bathe in the sand. she just kicks it out of the cup.

That's okay! She'll probably learn how to use it if you give her some time. It usually takes gerbils a little while to figure out how to roll in the sand bowl. Before that, they dig in it, kick at it, and even nibble on it (it won't hurt them if they do eat some of it). Try sprinkling a little bit of sand on her back while she's in the sand bowl. She might shake the sand off her back, prompting the instinct to roll.
Good luck! :)

My gerbils don't get it...they just poo in it instead :-/ they don't smell though.

Yeah, not all gerbils understand sand baths. Some don't get it right away but do later. The ones who like taking sandbaths, though, *love* it. :)

Yeah, that's exactly where the name came from, too. :-D
I adopted Herman to be a friend for Buster, who came from the local shelter.
Herman is actually short for "Hermano Annyong," because he was Buster's little adopted brother. ;)
