To help those of you inspired by CBC's Battle of the Blades to improve your own on-ice skills DGTV asked veteran Coquitlam Skating Club dry-land trainer Shari DelMaestro to offer up some easy-to-follow tips.

  • That's a great video ! I didn't know about the spiderman push-ups and the banana thing .... It's a great new workout for me ! Though, you need some stretching - (I don't know if you do it separate but we do it together ....) But it's a MUST !!

  • Since today I tried to ice skate for the first time (failed once and hurt my elbows) i think I should do this exercises. Thank you so much!!

  • Is this just for figure skating or can I use it for hockey?

  • actually, all these can be improved by either taking various advance or intense dance classes or for the pylometrics, go outdooring! there's plenty of places in the lower mainland for these adventure.
