I'm having MAJOR intonation problems and I don't know to adjust the nut or the saddle.
I'm thinking the saddle since my strings angle down from the saddle to the nut, but then some one also told me ukes are supposed to have that? Could you please give me some advice?
Good video!!. I've got a baritone uke and I've got small hands, so its torture for me to try and reach those LARGE chords. I knew all this before I bought the baritone uke.
I simply like the deeper sound of a baritone uke. Hope I can find a shop that can lower the action on my baritone uke. I guess it should not be that difficult to lower the action.
Overall action might be adjusted by filing the base of the nut if the strings were all equally high. Most luthiers use a slot file and file the slots, not the base of the nut. The biggest problem with filing the base of the nut is if the resulting curvature doesn't match the neck stock, or isn't as flat as the neck stock, you'll lose some of the resonance and sustain.
My ukulele's 2nd string (E), when tuned to the zero fret is fine, but when you push the first fret, the F is about 30-35 cents sharp. It was about 20, but when i tried to lower the nut it just made it sharper. Do you know how I can fix it?
