Women's 10,000m Stuttgart 1993 WC

World Record holder Wang Junxia wins the 1993 WC in hostile conditions in Stuttgart. After a slow, tactical opening half, Junxia pulled away from the competition with almost embarressing ease, upping the tempo lap after lap. The final kilometre was covered in a stunning 2:43.3 with a 61 second final lap confirming her dominance. Veteran Zhong Huandi adds a second silver to her collection as a 15 (!) year old Sally Barsosio takes bronze and Tegla Loroupe finsihes 4th.

No, the chinese women DIDN'T win 10000m 1996. Wang Junxia ALMOST did it but Fernanda Ribeiro was stronger. One of the most amazing last laps of a 10k ever... Just search for "fernanda ribeiro atlanta parte 1" and you'll see what I mean...
